The Challenge

As modern hospitality evolves, leading luxury properties are taking on a greater role in guest well-being, health, and environmental care. Following its property-wide redesign, Le Méridien Hong Kong, Cyberport sought to lead responsible tourism by completely eliminating single-use plastic water bottles without compromising guest luxury or hygiene:

• Eliminating In-Room Single-Use Plastics: Finding an eco-conscious alternative to ditch single-use plastic bottled water across all 170 guestrooms, significantly curbing plastic waste and carbon emissions. To align with the property’s core environmental policies, the solution had to actively eliminate single-use plastics and lower carbon emissions without compromising luxury, guest comfort, or brand value.
• Stringent Hygiene Standards: The hotel required the highest level of water purity and safety in every guestroom to satisfy discerning international travelers.

• Facilities Covered: Buildings 8 & 9 (State-of-the-art Wet Laboratory-Enabled Buildings) and Building 11 (Talent Accommodation / InnoCell-style residential facilities).
• Scale & Purpose: Designed as a world-class cross-border innovation and technology hub, integrating advanced research and development laboratories with modern residential spaces for global talent.
• Green Building Accreditations: BEAM Plus New Buildings Provisional Platinum, LEED Gold Pre-certification, WELL Building Standard™ Precertified, and Green Building Award 2023 (Merit Award).

The Challenge

As a premier flagship development setting new benchmarks for intelligent design, sustainability, and human-centric architecture, HSITP required a hydration infrastructure that could match its exceptionally high operational standards:

• Meeting Multi-Zone Demands: Spanning three distinct structures—including high-intensity research and wet-lab environments in Buildings 8 and 9, and residential talent accommodation in Building 11—the project required a versatile system capable of meeting diverse daily consumption needs.
• Rigorous Health & Safety Standards: To align with strict lab hygiene protocols, occupant well-being standards, and prestigious green building certifications, the water infrastructure had to deliver uncompromising water purity and safety.
• Seamless Multi-Building Integration: The solution needed to provide consistent, reliable access to filtered boiling and chilled water across multi-floor layouts while integrating smoothly with the park’s strict energy-efficiency and sustainability mandates.
